Eric Burton, DDS, FAGD

Dr. Eric Burton obtained his doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. As a graduate of Mizzou and a diehard Tiger’s fan, Dr. Eric returned to Columbia in 2003 to begin practicing.

An eternal student, Dr. Eric completes more than 150 hours of continuing education each year ( Missouri licensed dentist are required to complete 50 hours of CE every two years). In fact, in July of 2009, Dr. Eric was awarded the prestigious Fellowship award from the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). Achieving Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry is one of the few added distinctions a general dentist can achieve. The AGD is the only professional association exclusively serving the interests and needs of general dentist. To earn Fellowship in the AGD, dentists must take more than 500 hours of educational courses in various disciplines. Candidates must also pass a rigorous exam. The award is then presented to general dentists in a formal ceremony. Eric Burton, DDS, FAGD is one of only 7 percent of general dentists who have achieved this honor. To learn more about this award or the AGD, visit www.agd.org.

Not only is Dr. Burton dedicated to life long education, he is also an active member of several other organizations, such as the American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association, the American Orthodontic Society and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dental Sleep Medicine, in which dental appliances give relief to patients with obstructive sleep apnea. These appliances can be used effectively to treat sleep apnea patients without the use of CPAP machines or surgically implanted devices.

After being diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea in 2020, Dr. Burton decided to dedicate some of his practice helping others that have OSA.

Heather

Registered Dental Hygienist/Practice Administrator

Heather is our practice administrator and one of our registered dental hygienists. She was raised about an hour south of St. Louis. She moved to Columbia in 1991 and graduated from the dental assisting program in 1992. She worked as a dental assistant for several years and found it to be very rewarding. She then completed her nursing degree and worked in the health care field for a short time, however, she missed dentistry.

Heather graduated from the Dental Hygiene program in St. Louis in May of 2003. She is dedicated to helping her patients care for their teeth and educating them of the correlation between oral and total body health.

Heather has been with our practice since we open in July of 2003 and truly loves our family of patients and dental team.

Heidi

Registered Dental Hygienist

I am one of our registered dental hygienists. I have been with Dr. Burton since 2006. In May 2005 I received an Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene in St. Louis. “I enjoy working with people and educating them about their oral health and its relationship to whole-body health.” Dr. Burton’s and my dedication to helping people prevent disease is just one of the reasons I love working here.

When I am not working, I love spending time with friends, family, working out and playing music.

Olivia

Expanded Function Dental Assistant

Olivia is one of our EFDA’s here at Accent Dental Center. She has been here since 2010. “I truly love coming to work each day to work with our amazing team. I love having the opportunity to interact with patients and learn so much about dentistry from Dr. Burton. My favorite part of this career is building the relationships we have with the people we care for.”

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my friends and family.

Lacy

Certified Dental Assistant

My name is Lacy and I have been in the dental field since 2007. I am from a tiny town in Kansas (don’t hold that against me!) where I have raised my son the past 12 years. I have had an interest in dentistry since I was 10 years old, always begging my childhood dentist to teach me everything! I guess I bugged him so much that he ended up giving me my very first dental assisting job. I could not be more excited about dentistry and where my career is taking me working with Dr. Burton and our awesome team. I am 100% dedicated to Accent Dental Center and our patients and I look forward to my future here.
